| Ronald W. Kaiser Wins
American Real Estate Society (ARES) Award
FOSTER CITY, CA, September 12, 2003 - Ronald
W. Kaiser, co-founder and director of Foster City-based investment
management firm Bailard, Biehl & Kaiser, has received
the 2003 American Real Estate Society (ARES) Manuscript Award
for "Best Research Paper Presented by a Practicing Real
Estate Professional." He presented the award-winning
research paper, entitled "When and Why Real Estate
Could be a Surrogate for Bonds: A Dynamic Asset Allocation
View," at the ARES Annual Meeting in Monterey, California
in April 2003.
This award marks the second time Ron's work
has been recognized by ARES. In 1997, his paper, "The
Long Cycle in Real Estate," received the ARES Manuscript
Award for "Best Paper Presented on Real Estate Investment/Portfolio
Management."
A long-time advocate of real estate as an investment
class for institutional and individual investors, Ron frequently
presents his work at client, industry and academic conferences.
He has also published eight of his papers in such publications
as the Institutional Real Estate Letter, PREA Quarterly
and the American Real Estate Society Bulletin. Ron
earned his BS in 1966 and his MBA in 1969, both at Stanford
University. He is an active member of the American Real Estate
Society and was elected to a five-year term on their board
of directors in 2001. The Homer Hoyt Institute also inducted
Ron as a Hoyt Fellow in 2001 and he serves on their Research
Committee. He is also a member of the Pension Real Estate
Association (PREA) and serves on the Board of Trustees of
Westside School in Healdsburg, California.
